Imagination be Damned!

Not really, but that's what I thought to myself when I was going over some thoughts in my head today.

I was thinking about how I enjoy illustrations in books. Usually there is one at the beginning of each chapter (that is if there are any) but not more than that. I wish there were more. I know, I know, "but that doesn't let you exercise your imagination, that's what's wrong with this t.v. generation" It's when thinking of someone saying that, that I interjected (in my head, to myself, yeah I know, I'm crazy) "Imagination be damned!" of course I didn't mean it though.

What I mean is, being a big fan of graphic novels and comic books I quite enjoy getting a mental picture of the characters, and the surroundings of their world. A sort of staring point. Then my imagination runs wild thinking of other adventures for them to go on, aside from the one I'm reading. That's when I work out my imagination. I can read a book about someone and then think up a million other adventures or scenarios for them.

I like having that starting point. Maybe that's why I struggle with writing, I need a starting point. Hmmm... but my main problem with writing is developing story from an idea... oh well, that's a rant for another day.
